Skin Cancer
adolescence, and exposure to certain substances and radiation are factors that may result into a skin cancer case so do visit your dermatologist the soonest possible to discuss your case and prepare your health check and healthy skin plan.
It is important to have a skin cancer case diagnosed as soon as possible especially in the case of a melanoma (type of skin cancer) as it may start from a mole, it spreads quickly, can affect other areas of the body, and can be fatal.
At our practice, we would suggest mapping your moles, but we would also teach you how to protect yourself, what to observe and how to inform us of any changes, for example noticing colour changes (from light grey to dark grey), sudden changes in the size, even itching scaly patches (usually signs of Bowen’s disease) or ulcerated nodules that may bleed (usually a sign of Kaposi’s sarcoma).
Basal cell carcinoma (mostly diagnosed on older than younger people) and Squamous cell skin cancer are found on areas of the body exposed to sun and statistics show that in countries where people pay attention to protecting themselves against the harmful effects of ultraviolet light from sun exposure and tanning beds, skin cancer statistics as a general tendency, drop.
We will check for signs of skin cancer carefully and we will administer a biopsy if needed. In case skin cancer is detected and depending on the case, suitable therapies will be suggested such as surgical removal or cryotherapy.
