Laser Depilation
Using laser as a depilation method is a non-invasive, safe and very effective method indeed, both for men and women if performed by an experienced dermatologist or trained operator that understand the effect of the laser beam onto the skin and the hair follicles.
What you see from hair is the shaft but hair stem out from follicles (roots) that are found in the skin. You may be already aware of the fact that hair grow and thus can be found in various stages.
A depilation plan aims at destroying the follicles (the roots) so that hair cannot grow again.
Laser equipment designed for depilation, target the chosen area with light pulses that are converted into heat (in the follicles) that destroy them. The reason you need more than a few laser depilation treatments is based on this reality; hair can be found in different stages.
The number of treatments are 6-8 scheduled every 6-8 weeks depending on the colour of the skin, the condition of the skin, the area treated, the thickness of the hair and the type and power (fluence) of the laser equipment.
The wider the contrast between the skin colour and the colour of the hair, the quicker and more visible the results are.
In an era where clean skin is appreciated and promoted by media, teenagers may feel stressed and starting laser depilation from the age of 15 yrs old (or even earlier for certain cases) is acceptable and practiced in the international medical community.
The laser depilation process is safe but there are many secrets such as controlling the fluence (power) according to the thickness of the hair and the skin’s epidermal sensitivity. Do not attempt such treatments on your own or at salons without profound training and medical monitoring.
We would advise you to start such a treatment after summer and we advise against any tanning sessions prior to starting such a therapy plan.
According to the skin’s response, some redness with or without raised rush may temporarily occur.
